Synopsis
Ella was born in 1903 to William Joshua and Harriett Jane Crook. Her family had moved to Wyoming in 1888 where they homesteaded on a ranch in Smoot. She provides some background on her parents both of whom moved west with Mormon pioneers. Since she was the youngest of the eleven children, some of the older siblings were no longer living at home when she was growing up. This left her to care for her aging mother who was not well. The flu epidemic of 1918 hit the family hard. She describes how the people were self- reliant: made their cheese, soap etc. They grew their own wheat and strawberries. She married Robert Lancaster in 1925. She describes what it was like growing up in a large family and then tells about raising her own large family. They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-saints.
